Dear Barb Glad
to have been of help to you. When playing the first part it felt like a
drunken sailor on a sinking ship. The second part feels much more
stable. That is the reward for the effort of having to learn this way of
playing. But it is very suitable for faster pieces with many repeated
string crossings. The title is so creative so
that I can read the song title but anyone looking for it on YouTube will
not be able to find my video. This way I can keep it public and
accessible to my family. |

Neat to see the difference, sounds like you have a good system going, very insightful the difference. Sounds good. I also like how you title your performance. Sounds great. |

Dear Ray ..... and greetings to you too. Across the pond and across the whole country. But we all share Corona. We have come closer to each other in this time....... Alison Sparrow from the website: https://www.youtube.com/user/theonlinepianotutor has a video where she puts the camera in all sorts of places in her (admittedly a) house. And then plays the violin in her practice room. Here it is: https://youtu.be/NouYcXWHZH8 You could try this and put the camera in the bathroom / the kitchen with either open or closed doors and then play the violin in your room. Then you will know what your neighbours hear. My camera in this video is about 2 1/2 meters (8 foot) away from me on a tripod. A tripod cost about Euro 40 (Canadian Dollar 62) and is worth the expense. But I started out using a phone. I placed it between 2 mugs to keep it upright. Or lightly tilted. So you could do this on a table in your room and then record yourself playing on the violin. Dear Timothy Thank you for saying hello. And I enjoyed your worship video. You have an amazing vibrato with your sung voice. |

Greetings from across the pond. I was very interested in hearing your comparison between with and without a WMute. I'll have to remember to record myself, occasionally, from 15 or 20 feet away. Hard to do in my apartment. :))) |

Dear Jaime Nice to see you back too. And you are working hard. Yes I have been practicing the same note 4th finger and open note too. And yes one way is more difficult than the other. Isnīt Beth great to post all these wonderful excercises!!!! And you could laugh at me too. After posting I thought that maybe "laughing" at this moment in time might be inappropriate. And then the even worse thaught came up to me: does laughing at myself mean I laugh at othersī performances? No it does not mean that. Each personsī performances have something to give. An insight to be learned. And that is a gift one gives the others. I keep watching the news to a minimum, so that I will not to be over sensitive to "panic". And yesterday I had a Skype lesson on the guitar and on Friday I had my first ever lesson on Skype. That was on the violin. Schools are closed. Even my music school. Hence the lessons by Skype. I wish you and your family all the best ....... and be safe ........ |
